KOT (Kitchen Order Ticket)
A KOT, or Kitchen Order Ticket, is the printed or digital ticket that tells the kitchen exactly what to prepare for a given table, takeaway or delivery order.
Each KOT carries the order number, table or channel, items, quantities and modifiers such as 'less spicy' or 'no onion'. In a multi-station kitchen, a POS splits one order into separate KOTs per station so the tandoor, the grill and the dessert counter each see only their items.
Digital KOTs remove the two most expensive kitchen errors: tickets that are never seen, and handwriting that gets misread. They also timestamp every ticket, which is how you measure real preparation time per dish.
